Why is some of the data mixed around after restoring from production or after creating a DB backup?

Note: This is applicable if the Developer Extensions toggle is enabled.

When restoring from production to staging or when triggering a database backup on demand, the system obfuscates personal identifiable information. This is a security measure to protect personal data from being exposed, in case there is development or other work that has to be completed or reviewed by 3rd parties. Database obfuscation can be disabled on demand, after explicit consent is received via email.
