MySQL Deprecation in Sitefinity 15

With the release of version 15, scheduled in November 2023, Progress will discontinue support for the MySQL database management system.

MySQL 5.7.31 is currently in extended support mode and will reach its end of life in October 2023.  As of Sitefinity 15, newer versions of MySQL will not be supported due to low adoption and resource-intensive maintenance. Existing projects will be able to continue using MySQL versions up to 5.7.31 and customers under active maintenance (Sitefinity versions 13.3 LTS up to 14.4 LTS) will continue to receive support. See the Sitefinity Lifecycle Policy for the schedule of supported and retired versions.

The following Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) alternatives will be supported long-term for new projects started on Sitefinity 15 and later product versions:

  • Microsoft® SQL Server 2016, 2017, and 2019
  • Microsoft® SQL Server 2022 Coming Soon
  • Microsoft® SQL Express 2016, 2017, and 2019
  • Microsoft® Azure SQL
