Deprecated capabilities in Sitefinity CMS

Overview

The capabilities listed below are no longer supported. This means that starting from the respective Sitefinity CMS version, no further feature development and no bug fixes will be provided. In terms of related technical support, we will provide best-effort support, which means that the availability of knowledge and skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues is not guaranteed.

RECOMMENDATION: If your project is running on a version where the listed capability is still supported, you may continue to use it, however we recommend switching to an alternative option.

Sitefinity SharePoint connector	May 1, 2026	We recommend a transition to Sitefinity Integration Hub. For more information, see Integration and connectivity.	Microsoft has deprecated the authentication mechanism used by the Sitefinity SharePoint Online connector as of May 1, 2026. As a result, we have deprecated the Sitefinity SharePoint Online connector on the same date. You may continue using the Sitefinity Sharepoint 2019 connector, as long as you don't upgrade it, however its support is discontinued.
Sitefinity Marketo connector	January 31, 2026	We recommend a transition to Sitefinity Integration Hub. For more information, see Integration and connectivity.	Marketo has announced the retirement of its SOAP API effective January 31, 2026. The Sitefinity Marketo connector relies on this API, which means it will no longer operate once the retirement takes effect.
Sitefinity Salesforce connector	June 01, 2025	We recommend a transition to Sitefinity Integration Hub. For more information, see Integration and connectivity.	Salesforce has officially retired the API, which the Sitefinity Salesforce connector leverages, as part of their Summer 2025 release. As a result, Sitefinity Salesforce connector will no longer operate once the retirement takes effect.
NativeChat	September 1, 2025	Our future investment is in AI and RAG powered conversational assistants, represented by the Sitefinity AI Assistant and applications built on Progress Agentic RAG (Nuclia).	Due to the discontinuation of the underlying technology, NativeChat is removed from all supported versions of Sitefinity CMS starting September 1, 2025.
Integration of Twitter with the Publishing system in Sitefinity CMS	Sitefinity CMS 15.2 Release date: October 29, 2024	Before the upgrade, consider the following: Remove the Twitter Feed widget to prevent errors on your front-end pages. To integrate X with the Publishing system, use Service hooks or Integration Hub.	As of version Sitefinity 15.2, the integration of Twitter (rebranded to X) with the Publishing system has been discontinued. As a result, you are no longer able to include Twitter feed as source or target destination in your feeds. Only pages based on Web Forms or hybrid templates are affected because Twitter Feed is a Web Forms widget. Sitefinity Project Manager	Sitefinity CMS 15.0 Release date: October 31, 2023	For available installation options, see Install Sitefinity CMS	As of version Sitefinity 15.0, Sitefinity Project Manager is no longer available for download either as trial, or as licensed application. You can no longer download any corresponding installer `MSI` file under Your Account.
MySQL and Oracle RDBMS	Sitefinity CMS 15.0 Release date: October 31, 2023	For available supported alternatives, see System requirements.	With the release of Sitefinity 15.0, the support for MySQL and Oracle is discontinued. It is no longer possible to create Sitefinity projects using MySQL and Oracle databases. Legacy authentication modes (OpenID, SWT, and Forms)	Sitefinity CMS 14.4 Release date: March 29, 2023	Default authentication	Internal Identity Provider (IdentityServer3) is no longer supported. The corresponding code is removed.
Universal Analytics (UA)	July 1, 2023	Google Analytics 4	Google has deprecated its Analytics solution - Universal Analytics (UA) on July 1, 2023. Sitefinity CMS Analytics dashboard relies on UA. To continue using uninterrupted analytics for your sites, use the recommendations on how to migrate to Google Analytics 4 in Sitefinity CMS. Web Forms widgets for front-end development Web Forms widget templates Hybrid page templates Mobile & Responsive module	Sitefinity CMS 14.1 Release date: March 14, 2022	ASP.NET Core widgets, pages, and templates Next.js widgets, pages, and templates	Web Forms capabilities for new projects are not available. The recommended frontend technology options are ASP.NET Core and Next.js. Web Forms support was discontinued in version 14.1. The legacy capabilities are still included in 15.x versions only to facilitate the transition to ASP.NET Core or Next.js. Progress strongly advises against using Web Forms for production deployments in any version beyond 13.3 LTS. Customers who choose to deploy Web Forms based websites on versions beyond 13.3, do so at their own risk. Web Forms capabilities are no longer eligible for support, feature development or bug fixes, including security updates. Newly introduced or discovered issues, including critical bugs without workarounds, will not be addressed.
Classic content UI	Sitefinity CMS 14.1 Release date: March 14, 2022	New UI (New Content Editing Experience)	It is no longer possible to switch between the New and the Classic interface. The New UI is now the only interface available for all Sitefinity CMS users. For more information, see FAQ: Deprecated Capabilities in Sitefinity CMS.
Sitefinity CMS built-in Ecommerce module	Sitefinity CMS 14.0 Release date: Sept. 15, 2021	Ucommerce	All Ecommerce assembly files and APIs are removed from the project source code. Progress has partnered with Ucommerce to provide a comprehensive, feature-rich replacement. For more information, see Ucommerce for Sitefinity.
Forms and SWT authentication mechanisms	Sitefinity CMS 14.0 Release date: Sept. 15, 2021	Default and OpenID authentication protocols	The basic settings authentication screen has been removed for new projects and is only visible for projects that use Forms authentication. For more information, see Authentication.
Sitefinity CMS implementation of GitHub authentication provider	Sitefinity CMS 14.0 Release date: Sept. 15, 2021	We recommend implementing the authentication via custom code	Sitefinity CMS implementation of GitHub authentication provider is no longer supported. GitHub announced that they have deprecated API authentication through query parameters as of Sept. 8, 2021. For more information, see Deprecating API authentication through query parameters.
Amazon CloudSearch	Sitefinity CMS 13.3 Release date: March 10, 2021	Built-in search services: Lucene, Azure Search, and Elasticsearch	Amazon CloudSearch is no longer supported. If you have Amazon CloudSearch setup, the system status dashboard widget will report an error. We suggest configuring one of the three built-in search services instead. Social media widgets	Sitefinity CMS 11.1 Release date: Nov. 12, 2018	Custom service or third-party service	You can integrate social media sharing buttons into your Sitefinity CMS website content. For more information, see Make Your Website Content Shareable with Social Media Sharing Buttons.
DropBox provider	Sitefinity CMS 11.0 Release date: May 30, 2018	External Blob storage provider	You can use an external Blob storage provider, such as Microsoft Azure Blob storage, or Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3).

Sitefinity Connector for Telerik Backend Services (Everlive)	Sitefinity CMS 10.0 Release date: March 14, 2017	You can easily create Sitefinity web services	The Sitefinity Connector for Telerik Backend Services has been discontinued. DAM Module (Lightening)	Sitefinity CMS 10.0 Release date: March 14, 2017		The Sitefinity DAM module has been discontinued.
Sitefinity Mobile App Builder	Sitefinity CMS 9.2 Release date: Oct. 02, 2016		The Sitefinity Mobile App Builder has been discontinued.
Migration Module	Sitefinity CMS 9.2 Release date: Oct. 02, 2016		The Migration Module has been discontinued. This capability was only used to migrate legacy projects from version 3.x to 4.x, which are retired.
Sitefinity Desktop Application	Sitefinity CMS 9.1 Release date: May 19, 2016		The Sitefinity Desktop Application has been discontinued. For more information, see Sitefinity Desktop Application Discontinued with 9.1 Release.
