What is a contact profile?

A contact profile represents a single record for a person in your customer journey database who can be an anonymous website user or a known contact.

If the same person visits your website from three devices, the system will create three unique profiles for him or her, but once the person provides identifiable information (e.g. email address) or authenticates from these devices, the system will consolidate all three profiles into a single one.
