Generative CMS for RAG-Powered Dynamic Experiences

DGE (Dynamically Generated Experiences) is an AI-driven capability in Sitefinity CMS that creates personalized, intent-based content experiences in real time. Instead of relying solely on predefined rules or static personalization, DGE uses Large Language Models (LLMs) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to dynamically assemble page sections, based on user intent and context.

DGE addresses the limitations of classic rule-based personalization by replacing rigid, predefined rules with dynamic, intent-driven experiences powered by AI. Traditional personalization requires extensive manual setup and maintenance of segments, which is time-consuming and difficult to scale across large or global sites. In contrast, DGE leverages real-time user signals and retrieval-augmented generation to deliver personalized content instantly, without the need for hundreds of static rules. This approach not only improves agility and relevance but also enables richer experiences based on CMS content.

DGE differs from Sitefinity Insight’s personalization in that Insight delivers rule‑based, segment‑targeted variations using CDP data (traits, journeys, and goals) that you predefine, whereas DGE provides real‑time, intent‑driven generation of content using AI and retrieval‑augmented grounding from approved sources. In practice, Insight is ideal for governed scenarios where marketers configure who sees which predefined widget or page variation and then measure outcomes; DGE complements this by dynamically assembling the experience on the fly without maintaining large rule sets, adapting to the visitor’s expressed intent and context while still honoring governance and content constraints.

DGE provides two widgets: Intent Box and Intent-Based Content. These widgets allow editors to seamlessly integrate dynamic experiences into existing pages alongside static content or build entire pages driven by AI-generated personalization. Unlike standard widgets, the DGE widget supports multiple presentation styles, including Title and Summary, Rich Text, FAQ, Hero, and Content Items (cards and lists). Editors can combine any or all of these formats within a single DGE widget, providing flexible building blocks to create a full page, a specific section, or just one dynamic component.

The system decides what to generate in real time by analyzing the visitor’s expressed intent and use approved content within Sitefinity CMS. It uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to pull relevant content from the CMS, then applies AI models to assemble the most appropriate copy, the editor defines what the layout should be: Title and Summary, Rich Text, FAQ, Hero, and Content Items (cards and lists), and presentation style.
