Introducing the New Managed Database Administration (MDBA) Dashboard

Posted on November 03, 2022 0 Comments

Progress is excited to announce the launch of the OpenEdge Managed Database Administration (MDBA) Dashboard.

For many years, customers of our Managed Database Administration (MDBA) Service have relied on Progress experts to manage their production database environments, counting on our consulting database administrators to treat their databases as if they were their own.

These MDBA services include documenting the environment, providing stability and tuning recommendations, performing mini database health checks, and setting customized threshold criteria for your business’s database management, monitoring, and additional Service Level Agreements. If your database performance threatens to fall below the established criteria, we take action 24/7 to identify and fix the problem. Progress MDBA is more than monitoring - it’s an added resource to your team!

Announcing the New Managed Database Administration Dashboard

Now, subscribing to our MDBA Service also includes a dynamic, responsive, modern dashboard portal. This will enable you to view all your OpenEdge database Metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) through “a single pane of glass.” Our new MDBA Dashboard allows you to keep your finger on the pulse of your OpenEdge infrastructure by providing an up-to-the-minute view of your data together in one place.

Keeping Your Finger on the Pulse

The dashboard is a critical database management tool that enables your business to visualize trends, as well as analyze and display KPIs, metrics and data points. It just got a lot easier to manage the overall health of your data and OpenEdge database in near real-time with easily understandable graphics that can be shared to help drive important maintenance and production decisions.

Transform Real-Time Data into Digestible Graphics

What powers the dashboard and its visualizations? Behind the scenes, key metrics are gathered from your production databases and loaded into the dashboard repository. The dashboard aggregates the metrics and transforms raw data into aesthetically pleasing and easily digestible graphics.

The current dashboard presents the metrics and KPIs that are mission-critical to daily operations. Future versions will enable further personalization so that you can track, display, combine and conform the KPIs that are most relevant to your business requirements.

The list of KPIs and metrics includes (but is not limited to):

  • CRUD (Create Read Update Delete) statistics
  • Latch Timeouts
  • DB Reads and Requests
  • Connected Users
  • Checkpoints
  • Filesystem Space
  • Disk IO
  • CPU
  • And much more

In addition, the Dashboard provides visibility into the OpenEdge Database, PAS for OpenEdge, OpenEdge Replication, and Pro2 activities.
