Add and manage persona scoring rules

You can set the rules that define when a visitor scores enough points to be associated to a persona.

Add new rules

  1. Navigate to Analytics » Personas » Edit persona scoring.

    NOTE: You can add a rule on any screen that lists persona scoring rules, for example, from the persona profile screen.

  2. Click Add rule.
  3. Select the type of interaction that you want to track.
    To do this expand the If visitors... dropdown menu and choose an interaction.
  4. Choose the condition, on which this interaction brings score points to the visitor.

  5. Define how many points the visitor scores for this interaction and to which persona profiles.

    NOTE: You can choose whether points are scored just once or every time the visitor completes the interaction. For more information, see Persona scoring rules.

  6. Save your rule.

View and compare persona scoring rules

You can view a list of all scoring rules that are scored with anything different than zero by navigating to Analytics » Personas » Edit persona scoring.

NOTE: You can also see a list of all scoring rules by clicking the See a comparison of scoring rules for all personas link in any of the persona profiles.

For each rule, the total number of hits for this particular persona is displayed. A hit means an actual action of adding points to a visitor towards their recognition as a specific persona in accordance with this rule. If the rule is hit second time by the same visitor towards the same persona, it is not counted again.

Edit and remove rules

You can edit any field of a persona scoring rule, apart from the activity field. This is because all activities are based on completed visitor interactions already uploaded in the cloud.

Deleting rules does not result in deletion of personas and vice versa. You delete rules independently from the personas.  You can remove rules from a persona, that is, set the score for this rule-persona pair.
