February 10, 2016 0 Comments

We're at MicroStrategy World 2016, taking place on February 8-10. Join Sumit Sarkar, who will be co-presenting on “DataDirect Cloud & MicroStrategy: A functional overview” Wednesday from 4:45 PM–5:45 PM.

MicroStrategy World 2016 is a three day event filled with outstanding content, industry networking and relationship building. Presenters will discuss the latest trends including enterprise analytics, mobility, security and big data.

Our own Sumit Sarkar will be co-presenting on “DataDirect Cloud & MicroStrategy: A functional overview” Wednesday from 4:45 PM–5:45 PM (Track 6-Extract Value Out of Your Business Systems).

DataDirect Cloud and MicroStrategy

MicroStrategyMicroStrategy is a leading worldwide provider of enterprise software platforms. Enterprises are increasingly adopting cloud-based marketing and CRM platforms. DataDirect partnered with MicroStrategy to enable users to access cloud sources through an SQL interface, which is already familiar to most BI engineers and business analysts.

Sumit’s session will begin with an overview of DataDirect Cloud for MicroStrategy and explain the process of turning cloud sources into databases. Some popular data sources for MicroStrategy shops include Eloqua, Oracle Service Cloud, Marketo, Hubspot, Google Analytics, Veeva CRM, Amazon Redshift, Sugar CRM and Hosted Databases (over HTTPS). His presentation will end with best practices and lessons learned from analytics and cloud sources along with a live demo!

Embrace Cloud Data

Forbes reports, based on a survey of 1000 senior executives by CapGemini and EMC, that 70% of IT decision-makers consider their organization’s ability to exploit value from big data as critical to their future success. In MicroStrategy’s partnership with DataDirect, they made a commitment to cloud data sources. In fact, when you look at the MicroStrategy data source matrix and see “Installed with MicroStrategy,” those connectors were developed by a lot of the same people that developed DataDirect Cloud!

Here are some of the most popular data sources for enterprise reporting and analytics available in DataDirect:

  • Salesforce*
  • Amazon Redshift
  • Oracle Marketing Cloud (Eloqua)
  • Marketo
  • Oracle Database (over HTTPS)
  • SQL Server (over HTTPS)
  • Google Analytics and Adwords
  • Oracle Service Cloud (RightNow)
  • PostgreSQL (over HTTPS)
  • DB2 (over HTTPS)
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM
  • SugarCRM
  • Hubspot

*Connection also available as “Installed with MicroStrategy”

Presentation Continues Following Sumit

Following Sumit's presentation, Pramod Vemulapalli, MicroStrategy Analytics Product Manager, will walk through the enhanced capabilities through a BI connection such as:

  • Access Control Lists for Users/Groups using an ODBC connection
  • Multiple options to query the SaaS data such as Build a query, Pick Tables, or Type a Query
  • Enable wrangling options to clean SaaS data
  • Maintain SaaS data security and roles in a centralized manner
  • Prepare SaaS data for analytics by combine it with other data sets such as RDBMS, data warehouses, or Hadoop
