Did you know that application developers using OpenEdge can produce the same application about 40% faster with a 30% cost savings compared with alternative platforms?

This is due to OpenEdge’s improved developer productivity, which allows users to write fewer lines of code, produce fewer errors, reduce the need for QA and get applications to market faster.

In a June 2013 study commissioned by Progress, Forrester Consulting did a deep dive into the platform to compare it with alternative offerings and analyze the financial impact it has across the application development lifecycle. In short, Forrester Consulting examined four key dimensions of the platform: impact on IT, impact on business, future options created by the investment, and uncertainty. The result was a complete study looking at the Total Economic Impact (TEI) of the Progress OpenEdge Platform.

When they compared OpenEdge to other platforms in the market, here’s what Forrester Consulting found:

  • QA teams detected fewer initial defects in applications developed on OpenEdge
  • QA teams found that they were able to detect and reproduce issues faster with Progress platform
  • Partners called out the platform’s ease-of-use as contributing to the development of higher quality applications
  • Diagnostic tools allow developers and QA teams to quickly replicate and fix platform-related issues
  • Reduced time-to-market and monthly reporting costs for SaaS applications
