New trends in technology, such as the Internet of Things, empower companies to do even more with their applications. What are you doing to make the most of these technologies?

The Internet of Things (IoT) represents a system of interrelated computing devices with unique identifiers, and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human interaction. IoT networks, transmitters and receivers are now standardized, widely available and affordable.

However, harnessing the power of IoT to create business solutions presents a significant challenge for many companies. Some may struggle to achieve interoperability between IoT systems, others may not be able to fully utilize the sheer volume of data they collect. There are a variety of roadblocks that may hinder enterprises from taking full advantage of IoT technology.

Learn by Example

Sometimes, the best way to overcome these hurdles is by learning from the success of others. That’s why I’m excited to host a webinar with Dr. S. Dharmavasan, Director of Kingslake, a Progress Partner that has created an innovative IoT app using Progress Rollbase. With Rollbase, companies can build powerful business solutions in record time. Rollbase delivers unprecedented levels of intelligence and adaptability in business applications, and when combined with IoT, can create new ways of working that enhance efficiencies and open new revenue opportunities.

The Kingslake transportation management system, called TranSmart, leverages near-field communication (NFC) technology from telecom provider Dialog Axiata to improve the efficiency and security of workforce transport for large companies that need to move workers between their homes and job sites. The solution is currently in production at several large companies in Asia, and because it’s built on Rollbase, Kingslake can quickly customize it for new purposes, such as cargo transport and tour operations.
