Meet Our Experts at Oracle OpenWorld / JavaOne

September 16, 2010 Data Platform

Like a lot of companies, Progress DataDirect will have a booth (we're in booth #3519 at Moscone West) at the upcoming Oracle OpenWorld / JavaOne trade show. Unlike other companies, however, we're the only ones making a trio of data access experts - Jesse Davis, Jonathan Bruce, and Mike Johnson - available in our booth for anyone to come by talk to, ask questions of, and quiz, if you feel so inclined.

Why are we doing this? Because Jesse, Jonathan, and Mike have accumulated a lot of wisdom from their 40+ collective years of experience developing and testing a wide variety of data access products. Experience like that translates to three guys who have forgotten more about data access than most people have ever learned. It's that experience that sets them, and the ODBC, JDBC, ADO.NET, and OLE DB products that they are responsible for, apart from all of the rest.

Jesse's practical experience and role as a member of the JDBC and RowSet expert group will serve him well as he helps run a BOF featuring an update and discussion of the features currently being discussed by the JDBC EG. Details are below:

  • When:  Monday, Sept. 20, 2010 at 7:30pm PST
  • Where:  Moscone Center South / Room 309

Of course we will be handing out some other goodies as well - a laminated handout comparing Type 5 and Type 4 JDBC drivers, a really clever poster on Java Persistence, and an extremely useful technical reference card on JDBC. We will also be armed with the typical assortment of booth tchotchkes. If that isn't enough to tempt you to come by, then stop by to register for a free Apple iPad. If you can't make it, but would like to register for the iPad anyway, click here.

I hope I get to meet you at Oracle OpenWorld' JavaOne next week!
