What is a Serverless Architecture

A serverless architecture, also referred to as backend as a service (BaaS) and function as a service (FaaS), shifts backend functions of app development to the cloud.

With a serverless architecture, backend functions like data and authentication are offered as microservices.  Developers subscribe to the services they need and easily integrate them into apps as opposed to developing those backend functions on their own.

A serverless architecture eliminates or reduces the need for developers to manage complex and time-consuming backend server functions, which means they can focus on the application’s frontend functionality and user experience. This shortens the window for delivering minimal viable products (MVPs) and accelerates the release of new app features.
