Permissions for using the built-in AI features
Overview
As a Sitefinity CMS administrator, you can manage permissions for configuring and using Sitefinity AI capabilities.
A dedicated permissions model for AI usage helps address key governance needs:
- Controlled and low-risk AI adoption
- Gradual rollout of Sitefinity AI capabilities
- Effective governance of AI usage based on user responsibilities

Permissions for Sitefinity AI features
To manage the permissions for Sitefinity AI features, perform the following:
- Log in to Sitefinity CMS backend with an account that already has the Change AI permissions or an administrator account.
- Navigate to Administration » Permissions.
The Permissions screen opens. - Click AI in the list on the left.
The following AI permissions are available:
- Manage AI agents
Configure who can manage Sitefinity AI agents.

Configure who can use the DX Assistant chat experience.

Configure who can manage the AI-related permissions.
The AI Agents module is responsible for managing the following permissions: Manage AI Agents, Use AI Agents, and Use backend chat assistant. The AI Services module is responsible for managing the following permissions: Use AI content generation and classification and Change AI permissions.
If you disable one of these modules, the respective permissions are not available to be configured in the backend and Sitefinity CMS uses their last configured values.
NOTE: You can grant the Use backend chat assistant permission but not the Use AI agents permission to a specific role. In this case, a user in this role can use the DX Assistant in chat-only mode without the ability to invoke AI agents.
