Multiple sites in multilingual mode
You can use Sitefinity CMS to manage multiple sites and all your sites can have different languages.
Enable languages for public content
IMPORTANT: Modifying the setting described below changes the database schema irreversibly. Make sure you back up your database before changing this setting in case you need to revert it.
To enable languages for public content for your sites, you use the Administration » Settings » Languages page.
When you add languages using this setting, the database schema is changed to accommodate supporting the languages you add. Your sites configurations are not changed. To add languages to your sites, see Administration: Language settings » Adding frontend languages.
You cannot remove a language, if it is used as a default language for any of your sites.
For each language, the system lists all the sites that use this language.
Add languages to individual sites
You configure the languages of each site when you create it. You can also edit the site to change the languages it uses. Each site must have one default language.
To add a language to a site, perform the following:
- In the upper-left corner, expand the site selector and click Manage sites.
- Expand the Actions menu of the site whose languages you want to edit and click Properties.
- Click Add languages...
- Select the desired language and save your changes.
IMPORTANT: When you duplicate pages and settings from an existing site, the new site must have the same languages as in the site that you are copying. The default language must also be the same. Later, you can add and remove languages.
All of your websites can have one backend language.
You configure this language on the basic settings page.
