Authentication
Overview
Sitefinity CMS supports authentication with password-based authentication mechanism as well as integration with a variety of external authentication providers like Google, Facebook, Azure AD, etc. Any identity provider that supports OpenID Connect protocol can be used as well.
Upgrading to Sitefinity CMS 14.0 and above
The Default authentication protocol is selected by default for new projects as of Sitefinity CMS 14.0. For projects that upgrade from a previous version, it is strongly recommend to switch to the more secure and better performing Default authentication protocol.
To switch to the new authentication flow, perform the following:
- Login to the backend of your website.
- Navigate to Administration » Settings » Advanced » Authentication.
- In the Authentication dropdown, select the Default authentication protocol.
- Click Save changes.
- Restart the application.
