Task run and file activity reports

Automate MFT supports task run and file activity reports. Users can track the progress and status of file transfers and automated workflows.

Limit result entries You can select the number of report entries to list from the Rows per page drop-down list for the Task Runs and the File Activity reports. The selected value is stored in the browser's local storage. The default is 30 rows.

Search and select report filter values When applying filters in the Task Run and File Activity reports, Automate MFT displays searchable selection dialogs for filters that reference large collections of resources. These dialogs provide:

  • Search capabilities to quickly locate specific filter values.
  • Pagination controls for navigating large result sets.

Task Run

For each task, the Task Run report details the queued time, start time, task name, duration in the format minutes: seconds, status, the number of files transferred, the total size transferred, and how or by whom the task was started.

More Options

The more options menu () for each task provides options to explore specific information for this run or this task.

  • For this run

    • View Run Details. Displays the run details in the details panel.
    • View File Activity. Opens and filters the File Activity page for the selected run.
  • For this task

    • View Task Runs. Filters the Task Run page for the selected task.
    • View File Activity. Opens and filters the file activity for the individual task, across multiple runs of the task.

Export task run logs

You can export the complete task run log to a text file for troubleshooting, auditing, or sharing with support teams.

To export a task run log:

  1. Open the Tasks page in the Activity View.
  2. Select the required task from the list and click the hyperlink in the Result (Last Run) column. The hyperlink varies depending on the result of the last run.
  3. The Task Run details are displayed.
  4. Click Export.
  5. Wait for the log data to be collected and downloaded.

The exported file contains the same task run information displayed in the task run log viewer.

Note: The Export button is unavailable while Automate MFT is still collecting or processing log data. If the button is disabled, wait a few minutes and try again. Once the log data is available, the button becomes enabled automatically.

File Activity

The File Activity report details information such as log time, task name, source file name, activity, status, size, source path and destination path. Each activity of a task is listed on a separate row.

The File Activity view includes a search control for filtering results. The search field displays the placeholder text Filter by… and a tooltip that describes the columns included in the search: Filter by Task Name, source file name, source path or destination path

Enter a search term to filter the file activity list across these columns.

More Options

The more options menu () for each task provides options to explore specific information for this file activity or this task.

  • For this file activity

    • View Activity Details. Displays the activity details in the details panel.
  • For this task run

    • View Task Run. Displays the Task Run report, filtered to show only runs for the selected task.
    • View Activity Details. Displays the File Activity report, filtered to display only rows related to this specific file activity.
