Audit reports

Audit log reports in Automate MFT provide users with a record of system activities, task runs, and user actions. These reports are essential for troubleshooting and analysis.

Audit log reports are managed from the System > Audit Logs screen. The page displays previously generated reports and provides tools for creating new audit log reports, reviewing report criteria, downloading completed reports, and generating additional reports from existing report configurations.

Generate an audit log report

Audit log reports are generated from the Generate New Report dialog.

To generate an audit log report:

  1. Navigate to System > Audit Logs.

  2. Click Generate Report.

  3. In the Generate New Report dialog, select the report options:

    • Report format: JSON or CSV.
    • Audit time range: Defines the period of audit activity to include in the report. You can select a predefined time range or specify custom start and end dates and times.
    • Type of Actor: Determines who performs the action, options are User or API Key.
    • Actor: Limits the report to specific users or API keys.
    • Resources: Determines which resource types are included in the report. Options include system resources such as Tasks, Endpoints, Authentication Methods, and Schedules.
    • Action: Determines which actions are included in the report. Options include Create, Update, Delete, and Get.
    • Status: Determines the outcome of the recorded actions. Options include Success and Error.
    • Source IP: Limits the report to activity originating from a specific IP address.
  4. Click Generate Report.

The audit log report is generated in the background, allowing you to continue using Automate MFT or navigate away from the page. A notification will appear once the report is ready, and it is added to the report list.

  5. Click Download to add the report to your browser’s default downloads location.

The audit log list displays all generated reports, not the logs themselves. Users must download and open the files to view the audit data.

Reuse filter criteria

You can reuse filter criteria from previously generated reports to simplify report creation. When generating a new report, select an existing report to automatically populate the filter fields. You can then adjust the criteria as needed before running the report.

To reuse filters:

  1. Select an existing report from the report list.
  2. Click the more options icon () followed by Re-run with same filters.
  3. Modify any filter values as needed.
  4. Generate the report.
