About This Course

In this course, you learn about the three systems WhatsUp Gold uses for notifying you about network events: Actions, Alerts, and Application Monitoring (APM) Actions. Each mechanism serves a different purpose and operates independently. By the end of this course, you will understand not only how each mechanism works, but also when to use one over another.

What You Will Learn

After completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Understand the differences between the three alerting mechanisms in WhatsUp Gold.
  • Configure an Action and Action Policy in response to an active monitor state change or a passive monitor condition.
  • Configure an Alert Center Notification and Notification Policy in response to a performance monitor or passive monitor threshold.
  • Configure an Application Monitoring Action and Action Policy in response to an application or component state transition. 

Training Prerequisites

Students must have WhatsUp Gold installed on their network.
