Delete product attributes

To delete an attribute, you must perform the following:

  1. Get an instance of the catalog manager.
    Get an instance of the CatalogManager object.
  2. Check whether the attribute is currently in use by a product variation.
    To do this perform the following:
    1. Create an instance of the JavaScriptSerializer class.
    2. Get all available product variations.
      For more information, see For developers: Query product variations.
    3. Iterate through the variations.
    4. Get the product variation detail.
    5. Check whether the ProductAttributeParent has the same ID as the specified attribute.
    6. If there is a variation that currently uses the attribute, you must not delete the attribute. You must delete or modify the variation first. For more information, see For developers: Delete product variations and For developers: Modify product variations.
  3. Mark the attribute for deletion.
    To mark the attribute to be deleted, call the DeleteProductAttribute method of the manager and pass the ID of the attribute as an argument.
  4. Save the changes.
    To delete the attribute, save the changes to the manager.

NOTE: To delete multiple attributes, query them and execute the code below for each one of them.
