Create a project using NuGet packages

The Sitefinity CMS NuGet repository provides an easy way to automate the Sitefinity CMS project creation and upgrade tasks. If you want to create a new Sitefinity CMS project using Nuget packages, instead of using the Project Manager follow the instructions below:

NOTE: You need to have the Sitefinity NuGet server configured in your Visual Studio NuGet sources. For more information visit the Sitefinity NuGet Repository

  1. Create a new ASP.NET Web Application (.NET Framework) project in Visual Studio.
    • Make sure you specify .NET Framework 4.7.1 for the project you are creating
  2. Once the project has been created navigate to the Package Manager Console
  3. Install the Telerik.Sitefinity.All NuGet package - this package contains the full information necessary for configuring a new Sitefinity Project
    • If you have more than one project in your solution, you can specify the name of the project where you want Sitefinity to be installed using the Project flag, for example:
      PM> Install-Package Telerik.Sitefinity.All -Project TestWebApp
  4. Once NuGet has finished installing all the necessary assemblies and dependencies, build the project and run it
  5. You will be presented with the Sitefintiy CMS license activation screen, where you need to provide your Telerik Account credentials or upload a valid license file. Once done, the new project configuration steps will follow on the next screen.
