Settings for images

Open image settings

You can configure various advanced settings for image libraries.
To access the additional image library settings, perform the following:

  1. Open your Sitefinity CMS backend.
  2. Navigate to Content » Images and click the library you want.
  3. Click Settings icon (Settings for images).
    The Settings for images appears.

Configure the image display in the backend

In the backend, you can display images in different arrangements.

To select the desired view mode, under View, click the corresponding button:

  • List
    This view shows the images in a list, containing one image per row.
    The view lists the Title of the image, the generated Thumbnail, the list of Translations available for the image, its file type, dimensions, file size, categories, tags, and the date it was initially uploaded.
    To access the additional options of an image, expand its Actions menu (Actions) menu.
  • Thumbs
    This view shows a list of image thumbnails. This view is suitable for quickly scanning through multiple images.
    • To select an images, hover over it and select its checkbox. You can select multiple images.
    • To access the additional options of an image, select it and click its Actions button.
  • Timeline
    This view groups the image thumbnails according to the time that they have been uploaded in the library. The Timeline view does not show subfolders. To access the additional options of an image, select it and click its Actions button.

    In all views, when you select multiple images, a new button – Bulk actions appears, enabling you to perform the same action over all selected images.

More options

In the right pane, you have the following options:

  • Permissions for images
    Click this option to set the permissions for all images in the library.

  • Pages where images are published
    Click this option to see the pages where the images are used.
    To filter images by language, use the Languages dropdown on the right.
    NOTE: This list contains only images that are displayed in Image gallery widgets.
    To find out which pages contains a particular image in an Image widget, perform the following:
    • Click the image.
    • Expand its (More options) menu.
    • Click Pages displaying this image.
      Sitefinity CMS does not track images displayed inside Content blocks.

  • Custom fields for images
    Click this option to manage the custom fields of images.
    For more information, see Custom fields.
  • Thumbnails settings
    Click this option to open the Image thumbnails settings and configure available thumbnails size.
    This setting affects all your Sitefinity CMS sites in your instance.

  • Recycle bin
    Click this option to access the Recycle bin. It contains deleted images and enables you to restore them.
