Create shipping methods

  1. On the main menu, choose Ecommerce » Shipping methods.
    The Shipping methods page opens.
  2. If you have multiple sites, use the dropdown menu in the upper left of the page to select the site where you want to create shipping methods. For more on multiple sites, see Multisite: Manage multiple sites.
  3. When you are using multiple languages, choose the language in which you want to create the shipping method from the dropdown Languages list in the right sidebar.
NOTE: You might not see the language list when creating your very first shipping method, yet it will be available thereafter. For more information about languages, see Administration: Language settings.
  4. Click Create a shipping method.
The Create a shipping method page opens.
  5. In the Name input field, enter a name for the shipping method.
    For example, enter Express shipping.
  6. Choose what type of method to use for calculating shipping price.
    Select one of the following:
    • Standard

      1. Choose an area where the shipping method applies.
The shipping method is shown to customers if their shipping address is in this area.

If you choose Selected countries…, select one or more countries from the list.

      2. In the Shipping price section, select the basis of the shipping price.
You could charge for shipping based on weight, quantity, or price.
After you select the basis for the shipping method, you must enter the values that constrain the basis, and the shipping price.

EXAMPLE: You want to charge the customers from the United Kingdom for shipping, based on the weight of the product they purchased. One price for items between 10 lbs. and 50 lbs. and another price for items up to 10 lbs. You must create two separate shipping methods. In both methods, select Select countries... radio button and from the list, select United Kingdom. Under shipping price, select Weight. In the first method, enter 0 in From input field and 10 in To, in the other method, enter 10.1 and 50, respectively. In the Shipping price, enter the price for each shipping.

  7. In Sort order input field, enter the rank that the shipping method will be listed to the customer during the checkout process.
  8. To activate the method immediately, select This method is active checkbox.
  9. You can change the automatically generated name for developers by expanding Advanced, clicking Change, and entering the new name in the input field that appears.
This is the name of the shipping method that is used by developers to refer to it in the code.
  10. When you are finished creating the product, click Create this shipping method.
