Create departments

  1. On the main menu, choose Ecommerce» Departments.
    The Departments page opens.
  2. Click Create a department.
    The Create a department page opens.
  3. Enter the name for the department.
  4. Choose between the following radio buttons:
    • No parent
      The department you want to create is a top level department.
    • Select a parent… The department you want to create is a sub-department of another department.       

      EXAMPLE: The Books department might be the parent department of Fiction, and Fiction, the parent department of Fantasy.

      The list of departments opens. Expand the tree to locate your target parent, select it, and then click Done.
  5. To add a description of the department, click Click to add a description.
    In the input field that appears, enter the description.
  6. In URL, you can change the automatically generated URL of the department by clicking Change button and entering the new URL in the input field that appears.
  7. Expanding the Advanced section, you can perform the following:
    • Enter synonyms of the department name. so that you can filter your content items by the department name or by the department synonyms.
    • Change the name used in the code by developers to refer to the department, by clicking Change.
  8. When you are finished, click one of the following:
    • Create
      The department is created. You return to the Departments page.
    • Create and add another
      The department is created. The form is cleared so that you can create a different department.
