Translate an existing template

Perform the following procedure:
  1. You create a new language translation of an existing template in one of the following ways:
    • On Templates page, click the respective language icon.
    • Open the template in content editing mode and in the upper-left corner of the page, click the respective language icon.
    • On Templates page, in Languages field on the right, select the desired language and click the name of the template, which you want to translate.
The name of the template appears inactive, to show that it has no translation in the selected language.
  2. In Name input field, enter what will be the name of the template in the selected language.
  3. In the dropdown box, select from which language you want to copy the widget setting for the new translation. The widget configurations and the layout are the same for all language versions of the template.
The dropdown box contains all existing translations of the template.

EXAMPLE: If the English version of the template contains the Image widget, every other subsequent language version will also contain the image widget, but you can set the widget to display one image in the English version and another image for the Spanish version. The widgets are the same for all translations, but they can be set differently in each translation.

  4. Click one of the following:
    • Create and go to add content » Continue.

NOTE: All language versions of the template will be synced as one template. Changes made to widgets, layouts, and base templates in one template will be reflected to all language versions of the template.

The template opens in content editing mode.

      1. Edit the template, if required.
For more information about working with the layout and the content widgets, see Design a layout template.
      2. Choose whether to publish the template or save it as draft.
    • Create and return to Templates
The template is created and saved in status Draft. The system returns you to Templates page without editing the newly created template.
    • Back to Templates
The template is not created. The system returns you to Templates page.
