News

You manage news items from a site's News page.

To open a News page, in the main menu, click Content » News.
The News page opens, displaying a list with all the news and actions you can perform on them.

The following table summarizes the main properties and actions for News.

Property/Action Description
Widget to use and configure  News widget
Display on pages  Display content on your website
Organization  Flat structure
Comments

On a News page, you can view all the comments for news by clicking Comments for news on the right panel.

For more information about comments, see Overview: Comments module
Custom fields

There are many predefined fields that are not shown when creating a new record because they are hidden. Once you created your first News item, the right panel lets you 'turn on' these default fields as required, or even create your own.
Click Settings for news: Custom fields for news. The News data fields page opens.

  • Custom fields - You can create your own fields by clicking Add a field in the Custom fields section.  You are guided through the various data types and the alternatives for how data is handled and labeled. For more information, see Overview: Custom fields.
  • Default fields - Click on a defined field to edit it, then choose an option on the Appearance tab to specify that it will not be hidden.
Permissions

You can set permission for all news as well as individual permissions for each news item.

For more information, see Grant permissions for content.
