Display related items using item's canonical URL

Sitefinity CMS enables you to display related data based on a specific item’s URL. To configure this functionality, you must have a widget that displays all content items. Then, you add another widget that filters the content items using the specified item’s URL and displays only the items related to this specific content item.

To configure the widget that filters content items:

  1. In Sitefinity CMS backend, open the Edit mode of the widget.
  2. Click Advanced » RelatedDataDefinition.
  3. In RelatedItemType, enter the type name of the source items.
  4. In RelationTypeToDisplay, enter Child or Parent.
    The relation type specifies whether related items are children or parents of the source item.
  5. In RelatedItemSource, enter URL.
