Enable user groups

To be able to use site-specific users, you first need to enable user groups for your Sitefinity CMS instance.

PREREQUISITES: To enable Users groups, you must have a Sitefinity CMS Enterprise license.
For information about your Sitefinity CMS licensing, contact Sitefinity Sales at sitefinitysales@progress.com.

To enable User groups, perform the following:

  1. Log into Sitefinity CMS backend as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to Administration » Settings » Advanced » Security » Users per site.
  3. Select Allow separate users per site.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Restart your Sitefinity CMS instance.
For more information, see Application restart.

NOTE: If you do not use Sitefinity CMS Enterprise license, the checkbox is visible, but inactive.

RESULT: You have enabled user groups and you can proceed to managing which users can interact with which sites. All current users belong to the Default user group and have access to all existing sites.

For more information, see Create and manage user groups.
