Overview: Taxes and tax classes

You manage the taxes on the Taxes page.

To open the Taxes page, in the main menu in the upper part of the screen, click Ecommerce » Taxes.
The Taxes page appears, displaying a list of all created taxes together with actions you can perform on them.
Use this page to create, edit, and manage different taxes.

NOTE: When you create a tax, you must also choose how to display taxes to your customers. For more information, see Administration: Store settings » Tax.

Displaying taxes on your website

 The taxes you create in this section are displayed to the users during the The checkout process.

This section contains:
  • Tax calculation
    Before you create taxes and tax classes, you must get familiar with the logic of calculating taxes.
  • Create tax classes
    You need to create tax classes, if one tax has different value for different goods or services.
  • Create taxes
    Create taxes, define how taxes are determined, and define tax rate percentages.
  • Edit taxes
    Edit tax properties or delete a tax altogether.
  • Import and export taxes
    To easily manage taxes without having to create or edit one tax at a time, you can export and import taxes and their definitions using a CSV file.
  • For developers: Tax classes
    Tax classes are applied to an order via the taxes objects. In the tax object, you specify value for the tax class. This allows you to create multiple taxes and to assign different value for each tax class depending on the order’s location.
  • For developers: Taxes
    Taxes allow you to define rates for the available tax classes for a specific country. Use the Tax class to perform all common tax operations programmatically.
  • For developers: Link products to a tax class
    You can associate any product to a specific tax class.
