Sitefinity CMS Thunder: Automate your development

Sitefinity CMS Thunder is a plug-in for Visual Studio which will allow developers to create and maintain themes, widgets, dynamic modules, and much more through the familiar Visual Studio environment. Sitefinity CMS Thunder will also connect to any of your websites and modify them on the go.

NOTE: To use Sitefinity CMS Thunder, you must be assigned to the administrator’s role. For more information, see Administration: Security and authentication.

Sitefinity CMS Thunder requirements

NOTE: Sitefinity CMS Thunder is supported only for WebApplication type projects

In order to use Sitefinity CMS Thunder, there are the following requirements for your Visual Studio environment:

  • The solution that you have open in Visual Studio must contain only one web project - the Sitefinity CMS web project.
  • The Sitefinity CMS project must not be in a solution folder.
  • The configurations for the Sitefinity CMS instance must be stored in the default configuration folder ~/App_Data/Sitefinity/Configuration.
