Apart from providing a lot of requested features and improvements in the upcoming Q1 release, we've been busy working on the Sitefinity documentation. Over the past few months, we have collected a lot of feedback from you about what is missing and what can be improved, and we are doing our best to act on it. We've just updated the online versions of the Developers Guide, User Guide, Designers Guide and Installation and Administration Guide.
Here is a highlight of the new resources available to you:
Developers Guide
- We've included 3 new overview topics to help you get started with Themes, Modules and Controls in Sitefinity.
- A whole new How To section with topics covering popular development scenarios. These topics include:
- How to style your website via custom themes and templates
- How to create a control
- How to create a Silverlight based control
- How to schedule a task to import POP3 content
- We've also included a popular sample from the blogs about How to create a thumbnail selector for news
- For the module developers, a walkthrough of creating the Products module available in our SDK
Many of you have requested deeper and more detailed documentation for creating Sitefinity modules. The Products module (the final item in the list above) is the first step we’ve taken, but we have greater plans. Expect more articles on module creation soon.
