September 16, 2021 Data & AI, DataDirect

The Progress DataDirect Hybrid Data Pipeline enabled Board to pull data in real time from hybrid environments, resulting in high-quality business intelligence based on the most relevant and up-to-date data.

In this Success Story Spotlight, we look at Board, a unified platform for Business Intelligence, Planning, and Predictive Analytics that empowers enterprises to take that next step, converting data into fuel for better business decision-making. Using DataDirect Hybrid Data Pipeline enabled Board to OEM its connectors, offering a new revenue stream.

CHALLENGE

Due to its vast range of capabilities and functionalities across all industries, the Board data platform's flexibility is key to its success. To provide this deployment flexibility, Board needed to modify its on-premise data platform to support cloud-based environments. Data from a range of on-premises and cloud-based data sources must also be incorporated into the platform.

SOLUTION

In today's hybrid data landscape, Progress DataDirect Hybrid Data Pipeline was perfect for consuming and sharing data. It allowed Board to access on-premises and cloud-based data sources and apps quickly while preserving security and scalability.

The Hybrid Data Pipeline provided Board with a new revenue stream. Board may step in when customers start using Board and realize they require real-time access to their data when migrating from on-premise to cloud deployments.

RESULT

More than 200 Board customers use DataDirect Hybrid Data Pipeline to access on-premises data from the Board's cloud-based data platform.

Pietro Ferrari, Chief Technology Officer, Board International, says choosing HDP was the right choice for today and the future. "We needed a solution that would work immediately, and it did," he said. "We didn't even know if it was possible in the first place, and it saved us from having to dedicate our developers to build an in-house solution, which could have taken months. Instead, we just deployed DataDirect, and it was done."
