In the past, we have said that the Cloud is disruptive, yet provides potentially large economic benefits. And we have also talked about how Mobile is changing everything—both in terms of user experience as well as ubiquitous access to business applications. Neither Mobility nor Cloud are just a trend; together they have evolved into a revolutionary way of doing business—and quickened the pace of change for IT departments and ISV development organizations.
As many of our existing Progress OpenEdge customers and partners have told me in the past year, the Cloud and Mobility are not only keeping them up at night, but are also providing the benefits that are expanding the use and accessibility of their OpenEdge applications, for today and the future. While Mobility may have begun as a consumer-driven trend, it is a movement is that is now being shaped by a global business community looking to capitalize on its benefits.

This week Progress announced the delivery of the Spring 2014 Release of Progress Rollbase, with new capabilities that are focused on enabling companies to take a mobile first development approach to business applications. The latest version of Rollbase has expanded integration capabilities between OpenEdge and Rollbase applications. We see more of our existing OpenEdge customers and partners look at Rollbase for the development of new cloud-based applications or to fill the gaps that exist within their current OpenEdge applications. To meet their challenges, the new Mobile AppBuilder is based on what we initially delivered with OpenEdge Mobile, and is now part of the Progress Pacific platform. We have also added Rollbase Private Cloud as part of the PSDN subscription.

The applications of the future will need to be more dynamic and mobile users are far more demanding.
