Floyd Marinescu blogged about his experiences as a first time attendee of the TSSS - he was an organizer last year and I think he enjoyed it as much as I did last year. Floyd brings up an interesting point: Perhaps the most interesting trend I noticed on the panel was the fact that we DID NOT TALK ABOUT .NET. This is the first time in 4 years that we didn't spend at least 30% of the panels time talking about fears of .NET take over. We didn't talk about .NET at all. I think that is a sign of the over all maturity of the industry, the lines have been drawn, and people are no longer worried. Or perhaps it's a sign that Microsoft has stopped it's .NET marketing. :) My response to that, is well I think he's spot on. The net result of this is that instead of take chunks out of each other both platforms will find their niche. In fact, some of upcoming .NET technologies, in particular LINQ will up the ante for developer productivity. I would expect to see a response from the Java community on that development in the not too distant future... The Server Side Symposium
