First, there is the new App Extension Cord which will make it easier for apps to talk to each other and system features, saving developers time and money and creating a more cohesive user experience. Then, there are all the new “Kits,” including PhotoKit which allows more control over the device’s powerful camera, HealthKit which lets users store, track, and share health and fitness information, and HomeKit which will allow apps to discover and configure Internet of Things devices in their homes like the Nest thermostat or smoke detector. This opens the door to a whole new world of home or office automation while keeping the experience seamless.
Finally, there is Apple Pay, Apple’s answer to Google’s mobile payment system, Google Wallet. There is a lot of buzz surrounding this one, and when both Apple and Google are standing behind some technology, it is probably worth paying attention to. We could be looking at a revolution in the way we make our daily transactions.
