Building Bridges

As part of the Progress Pacific platform, enabling tight integration between existing OpenEdge assets and Rollbase applications is a capability set that’s been high on our list of priorities. In the recent 2.1 release of Progress Rollbase, we introduced the Progress OpenEdge Adapter for Rollbase. Available in both the cloud and on-premise versions of Rollbase, the adapter supports the importing of remote business entities in OpenEdge as first-class objects in Rollbase. As they say, a picture’s worth a thousand words:

The architecture leverages the capabilities introduced in the OpenEdge 11.2 release to support OpenEdge Mobile, in particular the JSDO catalog. With business entities exposed on the OpenEdge backend, Rollbase developers can use the wizard-based tooling in Rollbase to build seamless integration of those entities within a Rollbase application. The adapter supports  “CRUD” operations for the business entities on the OpenEdge backend, thus relieving developers of the underlying complexities of ensuring data integrity.

We’ve created a short introductory video with a demonstration to help get you going.

Enjoy!
