A Look at Day 3 of Cloud Expo and Thoughts of What’s to Come

November 08, 2012 Data Platform

It’s hard to believe that Cloud Expo is wrapping up today. It’s been a great four days of interesting presentations and discussions, and we’ve enjoyed being able to represent DataDirect among this great group of attending companies and delegates. Yesterday we heard the day three keynote from Progress’ own Dr. John Bates. Dr. Bates discussed the ten imperatives for constructing next generation applications and what needs to go into a platform and model to effectively deliver those imperatives. He also discussed how existing applications and services can be wrapped and exposed as cloud APIs – pretty cool stuff.

We also heard from DataDirect’s Gordon Crenshaw in a session titled, “Big Data Alchemy – Turning Big Iron into Gold” in which he discussed the potential value of big data and how to turn that potential into reality.

In addition to those sessions (and many more), we enjoyed roaming the floor and sharing thoughts on what’s coming up next in the cloud space. Our own Jesse Davis and Jaime Merrit took a few minutes out of their busy Cloud Expo schedule to chat about what they think we can expect in 2013. Check out this quick video for their thoughts:

Lots to look forward to in 2013! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our wrap up of day two at Cloud Expo and follow us on Twitter at @DataDirect_News.
