When does the EU AI Act apply to my organisation?

The Act applies extraterritorially. If your AI system is placed on the EU market, used in the EU, or its output is used in the EU, you are in scope — regardless of where your organisation is headquartered. Some obligations have already applied since February 2025 (prohibited practices) and August 2025 (GPAI for new models). The 2 August 2026 enforcement date is when the AI Office can begin imposing fines.
