Dr. John Bates is an executive vice president and chief technology officer at Progress Software. A recognized visionary and entrepreneur in the software industry, Dr. Bates has a strong track record of innovation in areas such as event-driven architectures, smart environments and real-time computing. In particular, Dr. Bates is recognized as one of the foremost driving forces behind the emergence of Complex Event Processing (CEP) and has pioneered the commercial use of event processing in business solutions. In 2008, Institutional Investor magazine named him one of the 30 most influential people in financial services.

Michael Benedict

Michael Benedict
Vice President, Data Connectivity Business Line, Progress Software

Michael Benedict leads the Progress Data Connectivity business line and is responsible for its strategic direction and its day-to-day operations. This business line, which markets itself under the DataDirect brand, is the industry-leading provider of data connectivity drivers and technologies in the premium data connectivity market; it is more than ten times larger than any other independent provider. The Data Connectivity business line combines an incredible installed base, compelling market position, strong channel/ISV ownership and vast portfolio of connectivity solutions into a core component and strategic differentiator of the company’s “highly connected” aPaaS strategy.

John Goodson

John Goodson
Senior Vice President, Products, Product Software

John Goodson is the senior vice president, products of Progress Software. He brings significant technical and business leadership to the company. Goodson has served as a technical expert on numerous international standards groups such as the ANSI H2 Committee as well as several Java Expert Groups including JDBC and Java Rowsets. He helped develop and evolve numerous popular standards including J2EE, JDBC, .NET, ODBC, SQL, SQL CLI, and ADO.NET. He is a well-known data integration expert and author of The Data Access Handbook: Achieving Optimal Database Application Performance and Scalability published by Prentice Hall. He is also a co-patent holder for inventing a distributed transaction mechanism for Microsoft SQL Server through Java. Goodson has previously served as the General Manager of both the DataDirect and Enterprise Business Systems divisions within Progress. He currently leads all product functions including Product Management, Solutions Marketing, and Industry and Product Development.

Goodson holds a B.S. in computer science from Virginia Tech.

Todd Hewlin

Managing Director, TCG Advisors

Todd Hewlin is a managing director at TCG Advisors. He draws on his background as a strategist, investor, and operator to help companies achieve breakout growth. He is also a noted author and speaker on growth strategy with articles published in Harvard Business Review and McKinsey Quarterly. His new book, co-authored with JB Wood and Thomas Lah, is called Consumption Economics: The New Rules of Tech.

 

Kim King

Vice President, Global Partners and Channels, Progress Software

Kimberly King is vice president of global partners & channels at Progress Software. Prior to joining Progress, she was Compuware’s GM-SVP worldwide channels and alliances where she was responsible for the company’s worldwide strategic partner and channels program. She worked in tandem with partners and Compuware’s sales teams to sell and deliver complete solutions for pressing business and technology problems. In addition, King successfully led Compuware’s acquisition of Gomez, an important part of Compuware’s application performance solution.

King has successfully tackled the challenges of building and operating IT Partner programs for more than 17 years and was recently recognized as one of the 2012 Top Women of the Channel and a 2010, 2011 and 2012 Channel Chief by Everything Channel’s CRN magazine.

 

Karen Padir

Senior Vice President and Business Line Lead, Application Development, Progress Software

As the senior vice president of application development, Karen Tegan Padir is responsible for driving the Progress OpenEdge application development product strategy, product management, product marketing, and all related functions that support the business. Padir joined Progress Software in 2012 with more than 20 years of industry experience leading global business and engineering organizations. As a member of the company’s executive committee, Padir is integral in charting a course for the growth of the application development business.

Jennifer Smith

Jennifer is Vice President of Corporate Marketing accountable for all aspects of marketing at Progress Software. With more than fifteen years B2B experience, Jennifer has held a variety of senior marketing leadership roles encompassing branding and positioning, marketing communications, demand generation, business development, digital marketing and partner marketing. Having worked for a variety of blue chip organizations, including Microsoft, Information Builders and PeopleSoft, she is a passionate believer in dispelling the ‘marketing is a cost center’ myth through the tight alignment of sales, marketing and product strategies coupled with highly targeted, evocative got to market campaigns that drive measurable value and results.

Andy Zupsic

Andy Zupsic
Vice President, Global Field Operations, Progress Software

Andy Zupsic is the senior vice president of global field operations at Progress Software. He leads the global field operations organization, including sales, services, partners, and field marketing. Zupsic has more than 29 years experience in the software industry across the sales, services, channel and marketing practices, with increasing management responsibilities at Juniper Networks, Microsoft and IBM. Prior to his current role, Zupsic was senior vice president of Americas Enterprise Sales at Juniper Networks, a company he joined in 2009. During his almost 17 years at Microsoft, he had a number of key roles, including managing director in Singapore and vice president sales, marketing and services for Latin America.

 

The Summit opens with a Welcome Reception on Sunday, January 27 from 6-9pm at the Bellagio Hotel. It will continue through Monday and Tuesday and conclude at 12:00pm on Wednesday. There will be evening events on Monday and Tuesday nights for Summit attendees. Please plan to arrive on Sunday and join us for the welcome reception, and depart after 2pm on Wednesday.
