CSV files format

A CSV file encapsulates contact or interaction data that needs to be in specific format, so that Progress Sitefinity Digital Experience Cloud can process and analyze this data. The following requirements detail how you need to format the data in the CSV file.

General formatting requirements:

  • Character set: ASCII or UTF-8
  • Header record: The first record in every file must be the header record, containing the list of field names. These headers can appear in any order. Header names are not case sensitive.
  • Record delimiter: Every new record in the file should be on a new line
  • Field delimiter: Every record consists of fields which are divided by a comma delimiter “,
Record structure: Every record must have the same sequence of fields, corresponding to the headers 

Formatting requirements for interactions

  • UniqueID

    NOTE: UniqueId is the unique identifier of the contact and can be any value with maximum length of 255 characters. Values greater than 255 characters in length are truncated to 255 characters.

  • Predicate
  • Object 
Field values

The UniqueID, Predicate, and Object fields must have values in every record. Values must not be empty or contain only white spaces.

All other columns beside the required ones are ignored.

Every additional column is considered contact metadata. 
Field values 

The UniqueID and Email fields must have values in every record. Values must not be empty or contain only white spaces.

For other columns, containing metadata, values are not required. If there is no value for that record, this metadata is not imported for the contact.
