Software Engineering Manager - MOVEit

Progress MOVEit is the #1 Managed File Transfer software for businesses that require secure and reliable file transfer and storage.  We are expanding our engineering team and seeking a leader that can grow, support, and manage our new team in Sofia, Bulgaria.  This is an exciting position that will provide opportunities for hands-on hiring and team development, technical leadership, and strategy development with an international product team. 

 What you will do in this role: 

  • Manage a cross-functional local team of 5 to 8 engineers supporting their individual goals for growth and development alongside business requirements.
  • Collaborate to get the job done with an international cross-functional team including engineering, product management, technical support, and product marketing leadership.
  • Participate in development of strategic goals and objectives at the product and engineering team levels. 
  • Lead and coach team members through the product development lifecycle.
  • Make hiring and compensation decisions.
  • Actively solicit feedback from the team and propose solutions to address challenges, process/practice improvements or other employee concerns.
  • Lead key engineering initiatives for entire MOVEit team.
  • Recognize high and low performing individuals and coach for performance at both ends of the spectrum 

What you will bring to this role: 

  • People management experience with a small to medium sized team.
  • Proven R&D experience in software engineering (development, quality assurance or adjacent positions). 
  • Positive track record of leadership on engineering features, initiatives, and process.
  • Prior experience helping both junior and senior professionals to grow and achieve goals.
  • Experience with cloud development or operations.
  • Ability to work well with remote teams and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other leaders across the company.
