Job Summary

Progress is seeking a highly experienced, strategic and motivated Internal Communications Director. The role requires extensive experience leading internal communications and a strong hands-on understanding of how to engage and motivate a large globally dispersed workforce, based on knowledge of organizational development theories, combined with practical experience. For the right candidate, it is an opportunity to reinvent a company-wide internal communications program from the ground up, for a global, publicly traded company. The candidate will lead strategies to inform and engage with the 1500+ employee base, while building a community within and across all facets of the company. You’ll liaise with our human capital team and the c-suite to not only provide guidance, but to create and drive all facets of employee communication relying on a full suite of tactics including email, intranet, events, blogs, newsletters, video and much more. Role reports to the head of Media and Analyst Relations within the Marketing organization.

About the Adventure:

  • Drive all facets of internal communications; build an internal communications discipline within the company
  • Responsible for establishing the global strategy for communications
  • Provide strategic counsel to executive team around communications strategies and mechanisms
  • Engage a dispersed global team to drive successful roll-out of a new corporate vision and strategic direction
  • Ensure consistency of message across global touch points
  • Create and drive employee advocacy programs
  • Draft, review, edit, manage approvals, and distribute messages, newsletters, etc. to employees
  • Prepare and distribute confidential and sensitive information, such as organizational announcements and executive messages
  • Help maintain the communication library on the internal SharePoint and Office 365 sites
  • Create content for the internal executive blog series
  • Maintain internal communications intranet content
  • Manage company “all hands” meetings, presentation preparation and live streaming to worldwide offices
  • Some travel required

About You:

  • 8-10 years of experience driving internal communications for a globally disperse, publicly traded company - technology/enterprise software/app dev industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, Journalism, Business Marketing, or other relevant discipline
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • Strong understanding of organizational development theories
  • Ability to function in high level of confidentiality/discretion, independence, and judgment
  • Social media savvy; experience with sites, newsfeeds, and blogging
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent analytical, time management, and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with a strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter and able to work independently but with a commitment to teamwork
  • A strategic thinker who can respond quickly to changing demands and market conditions
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, Office 365 and Yammer a plus
