Improve Qlikview ODBC reload performance against DB2 by 2X

Improve Qlikview ODBC reload performance against DB2 by 2X

February 12, 2013 0 Comments

The Visual Data Group published Qlikview best practices for data access which recommends DataDirect's Teradata ODBC driver for high performance.  Lately, I have been working with Qlikview shops to improve performance against DB2 across LUW, z/OS and iSeries (AS/400).  From reading Qlikview communities, I have also seen recommendations to use OLE DB over ODBC to improve performance, however my testing scenario concluded that ODBC was the fastest solution when accessing DB2.

Getting Started with Qlikview and DataDirect Connect for ODBC DB2 Wire Protocol driver

Watch the video showing performance improvement of 2X!

Note: While this specific case resulted in an approximately 2X performance increase, DataDirect recommends testing performance in your own production like environment.  If you are not seeing the desired performance, please contact us for professional tuning services available as part of your trial period.

Performance Summary

  • Windows 7
  • DB2 on AIX v9.5
  • Qlikview Personal Edition 11.20  32-bit
