New Features

This version of PowerTier contains the following new features:

  • Cache Indexing
You specify class attributes in server configuration. PowerTier constructs and maintains an in-memory index data structure on these classes and attributes. The index improves search response when applications query the cache.

  • Union Inheritance
Enables classes in an inheritance hierarchy to map to a single database table.

  • Enhanced Attribute Queries
You specify one or more attributes. The resulting generated query can search in the shared cache or the database, for attribute values or value ranges. The method returns qualifying instances of the class only, or of the class and any subclasses.

  • Guaranteed Cache Synchronization
Ensures that cache synchronization message are never lost, even if the database server or the message system crashes.

  • Composite Types
Attributes can be logically grouped and used as an aggregate attribute within a persistent class.

  • Enhanced Relationship Knitting
Ensures that relationship pointers between objects are preserved when the objects are updated by cache synchronization.
