- Service Packs 4 and 5 made improvements to the dump/load facility for migrating ObjectStore databases from Release 5.1 to Release 6.0. For additional information, see "Changes to Managing ObjectStore" in the ObjectStore README.
- A new release of the the Java Middle-Tier Library (JMTL) 1.1 was added to this Service Pack release.

- Service Pack 5 and 6 clients are not compatible with earlier versions of the ObjectStore cache manager. The client and the cache manager must be from SP5 or SP6.
- If a database has been created or updated by an ObjectStore 6.0 Service Pack 5 or 6 server, it cannot be used by an ObjectStore Release 6.0 Service Pack 3 or earlier server.
- JDK 1.3 is unserviceable for this release.

Release Notes:
- If a database has been created or updated by an ObjectStore 6.0 Service Pack 5 server, it cannot be used by an ObjectStore Release 6.0 Service Pack 3 or earlier server
- Service Pack 5 clients are not compatible with earlier versions of the ObjectStore cache manager. The client and the cache manager must be exactly the same release version
- ObjectStore 6.0 Service Pack 5 clients do not work with earlier versions of ObjectStore servers. A Service Pack 5 server will, however, work with earlier clients
- Databases created on a release before 6.0 must be upgraded to the 6.0 format using the Dump and Load facility. Please see the documentation and release notes regarding Dump and Load.
