New Features
This release of Persistence® EdgeXtend™ for Java includes the following new features:
- Database Explorer, which provides drag-n-drop import from existing database schemas for the Plug-Ins for Eclipse
- Monitoring APIs, from which you can build your own runtime management client
- Support for MySQL
- TCP Auto Configuration sync messenger

Other Supported Configuration Information
EdgeXtend v3.X integrates with the following application servers:
- WebLogic® 8.1, and future service packs
- WebSphere® Application Server Network Deployment, Version 5.1 and later
- WebSphere Enterprise Application Server
To use the Persistence Plug-Ins with your own workbench requires an Eclipse-based product version 2.1.X.
The following tables list the operating systems, JDKs, and database client libraries that are compatible with this release of EdgeXtend. Table 1 lists the operating systems and configurations available on the EdgeXtend product CD or from the FTP site. Table 2 lists the operating systems and configurations which you must obtain through the Customer Care Center. Please take note of the following:
- EdgeXtend includes the 1.4.2 JRE, enabling you to run sample applications without having a JDK installed.
- Use of a MySQL® database server with Persistence® EdgeXtend™ requires purchase from MySQL AB of a commercial license to use MySQL® Pro™ version 4. Persistence EdgeXtend may not be used with the MySQL® database server under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
- If using WebLogic or WebSphere, check their release notes for the correct JDK version.
- If using Linux, find the JDK on your supplemental CD.
