Platform Notes
- No graphical development or deployment tools are supported on these platforms.
- Apama does not support Security Enhanced Linux (SELinux). This option should be turned off on Linux for Apama to run. Note that RedHat 5 install has default SELinux setting as "enforcing". To disable SELinux set it to "Disabled" when installing the operating system or using the GNOME menu under "System"->"Administration"->"SELinux Management".
- The Apama platform is compatible with an older version of the libdb libraries (db 4.2) than those installed by default on RHEL5. The package that needs to be installed on RHEL5 to use the Apama platform is compat-db. See the Apama 4.0 Release Notes for more complete information.
- The Apama platform is compatible with an older version of the libdb libraries (db 4.2) than those installed by default on SLES10. The package that needs to be installed on SLES10 to use the Apama platform is db42. See the Apama 4.0 Release Notes for more complete information.
- To build the samples and develop applications using the C/C++ API, development tools which are not present in the default installation of the supported platforms must be installed. On all the supported Linux platforms the gcc-c++ package and all its dependencies must be installed. See the Apama 4.0 Release Notes for more complete information.
- In order to run the EventStore software a change must be made to the memory management settings prior to product installation. See the Apama 4.0 Release Notes for more complete information.
- Apama includes JRE 6.0 update 6, and Progress recommends that you use JRE or JDK 6.0 update 6 to develop, build, test, and deploy your applications. Use of any JRE other than the one that Apama ships with is strongly discouraged. If you want, you can build your application with JDK 5.0 update 10 instead of JDK 6.0. However, it is still recommended that you use JRE 6.0 at runtime.
- Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 or later is required to view the product documentation.
