Progress RFID

Transform Raw RFID event Streams into Meaningful Business Data

Progress® for RFID provides an in-memory data caching architecture and persistent RFID data store that captures complex event streams, thus enabling event-based queries and other event stream processing operations. Progress for RFID transforms raw RFID data into business information that can be leveraged by supply chain, retail, manufacturing, and other RFID-enabled applications.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) will enable any organization to better understand their operations. Progress Software has created a scalable architecture, Progress for RFID, that facilitates the real-time query and analysis of RFID sensor data as it is captured. It provides the historical time-series analysis of RFID data and can be easily integrated into key business applications that can leverage RFID information to better understand and manage their assets.

Progress for RFID benefits include:

  1. Scalable Data Infrastructure. Distributed Cache-Forwardâ„¢ Architecture delivers better performance and scalability to RFID and other sensor event stream data applications.
  2. Event Processing Foundation. Transforms generic "track and trace" functionality into sophisticated event processing applications.
  3. Integration. Organizations can exploit the potential of RFID information by extending existing, or new, business applications.

Progress deployments:

Managing Timber Harvest Process

German forestry company Cambium-Forstbetriebe needed to track the processing of trees as they moved from forests through its supply chain to saw mills that process the lumber. With the aid of RFID, a new system has improved inventory management and streamlined the financial reconciliation process. Software provider DABAC has developed a software application for sawmill operators and forestry companies which integrates Progress for RFID. Cambium-Forstbetriebe now can tag individual trees in the forest and store the RFID data collected from those logs as they are transported to its sawmills.

Enable developers to:

  • Define event stream processing pipelines in C++, Java or XML that handle the collection, processing and output of RFID event streams.
  • Create custom event processing functions.
  • Capture industry-standard tag formats from industry standard ALE middleware sources.
  • Develop query-based applications that analyze RFID in real-time and after RFID data has been written to disk.
  • Create applications that pre-process RFID data prior to propagating the information to enterprise applications.
