Progress Event Engine

Real-time Data Management Infrastructure

Progress® Event Engine™ is a sophisticated data management infrastructure for organization and management of event stream data. Event Engine delivers extraordinary performance in support of a wide range of event stream processing (ESP) applications that include "tick data" trading applications in financial services and RFID applications in supply chain, retail, and manufacturing environments.

Real-time Data Management Infrastructure

Event Engine offers a highly scalable infrastructure for the management of event stream data. Its sophisticated in-memory caching architecture can accommodate up to tens of thousands of events per second on a single server—with distributed, multi-server environments fully supported—thus enabling high volume transaction applications to be developed that transform raw event stream data into business-relevant information. Data managed is accessible directly from Event Engine via an Event Query Language or can be propagated to enterprise business applications via service-oriented integration such as JMS or SOAP.

Event Engine benefits include:

  1. In-Memory Responsiveness - Distributed in-memory caching delivers performance at rates that approach 100,000 events per second.
  2. Extensible Architecture - Customizable architecture supports the assembly of ESP applications using C++, Java, or XML.
  3. Real-Time and Historical Event Management - Supports high volume data input that is unimpeded by simultaneous database queries.

Platform Support

Enable your developers to:

  • Build data management applications that process high volume event streams;
  • Utilize in-memory data management for high performance data collection and query operations;
  • Manage event data in a persistent store with ACID properties;
  • Execute sophisticated analyses of the event stream data via event queries;
  • Propagate query results that aggregate and/or filter raw events to business applications via bundled integration (e.g. Sonic JMS or SOAP).
