Codama NV, located in Belgium, concentrates on data management of the sick leave rate for the DWV, the National Center for Employers. The DWV is responsible for child benefit, the medical center and is the control center for absenteeism
Challenge
Every statement of absenteeism in Belgian organizations is forwarded to the control center of the DWV. The control center develops a daily control schedule for doctors and processes the control results the same day. A team of 15 IT-experts at Codama manages the data of 115,000 controls every year. Until recently all of this work was done manually making the process extremely tedious, time consuming and prone to human error. |

Solution
Codama chose to use Progress OpenEdge to develop an in-house application to register all requests to control absenteeism within organizations.
Results
Customers use the application via the ASP-model. The client organization only needs a PC and a telephone connection to get direct access to Codama's system. Severe security elements ensure organizations can only access the files of their employees. A sick employee can be registered online. The request to control is sent immediately to a doctor, who can download the necessary data on his portable.
In a next phase - currently being developed, doctors will be able to complete the control file after their examination of the sick employee. All data is immediately processed into statistical information on absenteeism per department, per organization and even per sector. High absenteeism percentages can be examined easily in this way.
