Building our Community at Exchange 2008
In addition to the General Session, Exchange offers events and activities outside of the core technical program. They are designed to help you connect with and strengthen our global community, foster successful business interchange and simply to have fun. Main events at Exchange ‘08 included:
General Session
It was standing room only at the opening general session. OpenEdge GUI for .NET, which was announced at the conference, drew strong interest, as did the Progress SOA Portfolio.
Joe Alsop, Progress CEO and Co-founder, began the general session with a brief overview of the company, the significant achievements of the past year and our continued commitment to focus on innovation and ensure the success of our customers. Then Forrester senior analyst Randy Heffner delivered an address on ‘SOA as the Foundation for the Digital Business.’ Hefner’s presentation provided the context for a newly developed demonstration of ‘SOA in Action’ delivered by David Olson, Director of Enterprise Solutions, and John Dalton, Director, Product Management, DataXtend and ObjectStore. In addition, Autotrader.com and Precision Computer Systems (PCS), a division of FiServ, were featured in videos demonstrating the power of the Progress product portfolio and the business results our customers are achieving.
Expo 2008
Representatives from Progress and some of our leading partners showcased technology innovations and service offerings. Opening day drew quite a crowd in the small but intimate atmosphere of the Expo in Paris. Partners and Progress alike enjoyed mixing and mingling with attendees as they explored the booths. Exhibitors found real value in attending stating “This was well worth the effort and we plan to participate next year”. The Expo is also a great place to meet many from the Progress development and management teams. Learn more about the Exhibitors and the Progress booth.
Virtual Expo
An exciting new entrée was the debut of the Virtual Expo. This online exhibition opened at Exchange and will remain open until 30 June 2008. Explore exhibitor booths at your convenience any time of day. Go now.
Partner Exchange 2007
Back for the sixth year in a row this exclusive event offers collaboration, networking and the sharing of ideas with both Progress experts and an executive peer group. Under the theme of Growth Opportunities through Innovation, Collaboration and Specialization the program was rich in content, advice and opinions from experts in many fields and featured examples of organizations that have expanded their market, changed business models or leveraged new technologies.
Networking Events
- Welcome Reception & Poster Fair –A full house at the welcome reception/poster fair on Sunday evening was a great kickoff to the week ahead. Over 20 posters were manned by Progress product experts and covered a range of topics (from the Progress Racetrack Demo and learning about Apama to transforming your application and OpenEdge 10). It was a fun stage setting event to renew old friendships and make new ones.
- Tuesday Free Evening – Whether at the resort, the Disneyland Park or participating in the Tour of Paris the weather was warm and offered everyone a chance to relax, unwind and have fun! There were tons of choices for attendees to realize the excitement of the park or Paris, the world’s most popular tourist destination and one of the most vibrant cities.
- Networking at the Expo and Lunch – Lunches and the networking reception at the Expo on Monday were great informal ways to meet new members of the Progress community and catch up with many of the names and faces at Progress.
